Nicoleta Stoicea, MD, PhD.
Site Director/Investigator
Trained in Family Medicine and Cardiology, with a PhD in Neurophysiology, Dr. Stoicea is an experienced scientist with over 20 years of work in academic and industry research. Dr. Stoicea also has experience in analgesia research, having completed a Fellowship Program in Neuroanesthesiology at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. She has worked as a Principal Investigator in studies focused on neurodegenerative diseases, postoperative delirium, multimodal pain management, and models of transition of care for geriatric patients. She has published well over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals and mentored other physician-scientists in the realm of clinical research and publication. Dr. Stoicea has held various leadership positions in academic settings and in industry, including roles such as a Medical Monitor, Medical Director and Director of Research. Dr. Stoicea’s leadership started with a foundation in clinical trial process, procedures, and requirements – she reflects fondly and with deep appreciation upon her earliest industry job as a Research Assistant and CRC under the mentorship of ERG’s very own Dr. Apseloff (of Ohio Clinical Trials).
Dr. Stoicea’s dynamic personality extends beyond her professional accomplishments. She has a love for animals and is the proud owner of two dogs: Snoopy, a Great Pyrenees/Newfoundland mix, and Archie, a charming Cavapoo. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking and is currently training for the Nationwide Children’s half marathon. If she could travel anywhere in the world, Japan would be at the top of her list due to its unique identity, diverse cuisine, and fascinating history. One of the best pieces of advice she has ever received is to “listen more than you speak,” a principle she values highly.
